Jamaica: Ocho Rios Resorts

Ocho Rios one of the major travel destinations in the world. It is nestled between luxuriant hillside gardens and the glistening turquoise waters of the Caribbean. It was the first Jamaican town to be specifically turned into a resort. One of this area's highlights is Dunn's River Falls, which is a much-photographed and climbed attraction. You can swim underneath in the chilly water of the falls, or make the climb to the top. Other landmarks include Eden Falls and Fern Gully, a rock filled gorge that twists and turns for miles up the coast. It is in the last twenty years that Ocho Rios has grown from a small town into a thriving tourist resort. It is filled with fast food chains, duty free stores, clubs, bars and restaurants. Its harbors also provide a home for visiting cruise ships.

Among Jamaica's big three resorts Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, and Negril, Ocho Rios is considered the least choice resort. This strip of hotel-lined sand cannot compete with the magnificent beaches of Negril and Montego Bay. Additionally, the bar scenes and clubs are somewhat less exciting Nevertheless, while this place may fall a bit short in overall scenic splendor, it compensates with its liveliness and activity, making Ocho Rios a great place to get the wholesome flavor of Jamaica.

There are a number of luxurious all inclusive vacation resorts in Ocho Rios. This is one reason why foreigners and locals alike love to spend their vacations there. Two of the more popular vacation resorts in Ocho Rios are Sandals Dunn's River Resort and Spa and Couples Ocho Rios.

Sandals Dunn's River Resort and Spa caters only to adults. It is situated about eight miles outside of Ocho Rios and 90 miles from the Sangster International Airport. The all-inclusive resort offers 256 guest accommodations with mountain, pool, garden garden, and ocean views. All rooms provide full amenities for the comfort of their guests, and have 24-hour room service. There are four restaurants in this vacation resort with dinner options including international, West Indian, Italian, and Eastern cuisine.

Couples Ocho Rios is another vacation resort in Ocho Rios that well known and receives high praise. This resort also caters to adults. It is situated on 19 beautiful acres of beachfront property, 65 miles from Sangster International Airport and offers a free hotel shuttle. This all-inclusive resort has a private island with and a snack bar, hammocks, and lounge chairs. Natural sunbathing is permitted. Additionally, the Couples Ocho Rios resort has all the amenities one expects from a luxurious resort in Jamaica, and transfers to and from this hotel are included in the room rate.
